Award Winning Barbecue
What: 2nd Annual Loveland Loves BBQ Competition. Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event. Judged by 100% certified KCBS judges. 49 professional BBQ teams competing for $14.000 in prize money. Read about it in the Loveland Reporter-Herald and the also Lyons Recorder.
Where: Downtown Loveland. 49 teams lined the closed streets selling and their goods filling the downtown area with hickory and mesquite smoke staying up all night tending to the fires to feed the 15,000 to 20,000 attendees who packed the block Friday and Saturday.
When: July 10th and 11th.
Who of interest: Local business, Smoke Shack BBQ and Catering (next to Diamond Shamrock). Pit Master/Chef Allen Burton, American Culinary Federation Certified Chef with 25 years of restaurant experience in his first bbq competition.
Results: Grand Reserve Champion (second over all in all meat categories), First Place Brisket, 8th Place Chicken.
